Christmas Alive!

This is the cover of the Christmas issue of Columbus Alive Magazine. I just added the alive logo as a place holder, to give you a better idea of how it would look published.

SteamPowered 2008 Convention

Behold. The latest and greatest Lyon Illustration has to offer. This became an illustration for the SteamPowered 2008 steampunk convention poster. Now I will say that this didn't turn out exactly as I planned but I am confident in saying that I am still happy with the outcome. Even though it has bridged into a more stylistic final (as most things I finish do) than I would have liked, I still think it was good practice in cranking out solid finished working illustrations. Sadly that is something CCAD just doesnt give you much practice at. Getting good finished work out fast...

Endangered Animal Alphabet????

This is just a little project we just finished in my Styles & Concepts class. I wouldn't say it was very interesting, I but i figured the characters were fun enough to post anyhow. I mean come on even the Rhino is cuddly.

The First Glimps at the New AOI

Keep in mind that these are only the two posters that I designed for our first round of posters. The idea that Mike and I went for was a totally type based begining so as not to show case winners from the previous year, a fresh start. There are a lot of other things that we plan to "tweak", so this is only the beginning of the new look and feel.

Keep an eye out if you are on campus! They are everywhere. All submissions are to be in by January so get crackin.

Washington's True Colors...

I like to think that this is something that Washington would have given Martha as a gift. But in actuality this is something I did for Humorous Illustration. It's a play on the Vanity Fair photo shoot with Miley Cyrus. Look it up, it makes it better. haha.

This is acrylic and color pencil, with just a touch of digital to pump up the contrast for that "rustic" look.

Tarzan Cover Final with a Side of Something Else...

This is my final book cover for the first project in Styles and Concepts.

I would say in all this is a ball park of like...20 hours ish in this as it stands now. I'm happy with it, though am still a bit iffy about the tree tops in the forground...But either way i think its a pretty successful cover redesign.

This second piece I posted is just something I started for fun and kinda hit a wall on so it is now open to a needed crit. Any suggestions are welcome I would hate to scrap it but I just may.

Digital Paint 2

Ok here we go! Digital Paint The Sequel! I think its a much better step in the right direction. I don't know how crazy i am about the boat and the little soldier in it a drift... but over all I felt it was good enough to post up. I doubt I will go back into it unless I get some really positive feed back and good crit for things that could make it a great deal better. If not then it will just be another steping stone, and I will continue to move forward! Let me know what you think.

Speed Painting Practice

As a goal for this year i have decided to work on the digital paint and concepting side of things when I am in between things. It's a part of illustration i have been avoiding just because it's more challenging for me and that right there is pretty sad. SO this is my first step towards a new me. Any comments welcome.

The Venture Project

I while ago I decided to do a painting to hang over my couch in my apartment of the Venture Bros. show. This was just the final line/value study but the painting is underway, I am thinking it's nearing the halfway point. It will be posted upon completion.

A Taste of Design

Rib Fest 2008:
Here is a bit of Graphic design work I did for a company party. It's a big rib roast the boss does once a year. I tried to make something interesting enough that it could be reused each year and a branding for the event. I hope it sticks. Just a bit of BBQ sauce inspiration.

Abbey Road

Here is the product of a three weeks of spare time. I have been putting off this as a gift for my uncle for far to long, but here it is. Nothing special just a copy, or as close as i could get. But hey it's practice!

A New Look

I decided to change the header at the top of the Blog. Now this isn't an official branding. just something to keep this page looking nice. But with that aside I'm welcome to comments or suggestions on it either way in hopes of refining it to some sort of Branding.

Chuck's Barber Shop

Here it is! The first finished summer project. I have two more planned the next is just a charcoal picture of The Beatles album "Abby Road" for my uncle. that will be followed by a piece I am doing just to hang in my apartment of the characters from The Venture Bros. One of my all time favorite shows. Its been in the planning stages for a few weeks now and I'm just waiting till the one for my uncle is out of the way to unleash.

This finished piece in this post, by the way, is Acrylic and Color Pencil. Over all i feel it is pretty successful, though I feel that I got to antsy near the end. It took far to long to get this done, only working on it after work once or twice a week drove me crazy. I really need to buckle down.

Let me know what you all think. I'm always open to a good Crit and in need I think for tips for the future to be aware of. Training myself to look for little things. I have caught a few already, haha.

Something New...

A new method I tried out today. It's a small 5x5 drawing of Santa Clause. I think the technique went well, but there are some weird things with the sketch I used I think...

The Honey Comb

This is a design project for Design for Illustration class. just finished it the other day. The assignment was natural pattern receding in space. Though I got it down assignment wise, I know it could be a bit more interesting. Tell me what you think. It wont be changed in time for grading but I can always do it for myself. I thinking the bee is getting to lost...any suggestions welcome.
